Why you are seeking this position?
In my past three years as a board member, I have seen growth in our organization, AHRMM. I am excited about the direction we are taking and would like the opportunity to be an active participant in setting the course of both AHRMM and our profession.
How can you advance AHRMM's mission to advance healthcare through supply chain excellence?
I am committed to putting forth my best effort in the interest of AHRMM and its mission to advance healthcare supply chain. I act as an advocate, representing both the organization and profession to the best of my ability.
Identify 3 - 5 strategic priorities you think AHRMM should undertake and your reasons for identifying them as important.
1. Develop a framework for supply chain competencies – I feel we need a tool or reference that will help guide the development of the supply chain professionals of the future.
2. Grow strategic relationships – Developing and growing strategic relationships with allied associations such as AORN, HFMA and APICS will strengthen our profession.
3. Enhance communication – Continuing to build on the work of past leadership to improve communication, strengthening the voice of our members.
Identify your personal and professional qualities that will be valuable in the position for which you are being considered.
My key values are honesty, integrity, compassion, faith and openness. I place a high value on family and maintaining balance in life. Professionally, I try to represent these values in all that I do.
How will you use these qualities to benefit AHRMM, the Board, and the members?
I believe my ability to balance multiple priorities, seek to understand my audience and articulate my vision will be an asset to the team. In addition, my background and experience working with supply chain, clinicians and executives provides a blended perspective.
What do you expect to be your single, greatest contribution to AHRMM as a Board member?
I do not view my impact as an individual as being the greatest contribution. Rather, it is my role as a part of a group of dedicated, passionate individuals who are focused on growing our profession.
Describe one transformational experience in your professional life you have been involved with and what you have learned from this experience.
I entered supply chain from the “outside” having worked as a medical assistant in physician practices. Early in my career, the hospital I was employed in became managed by a hospital management corporation. Since I was very new in my role, I was concerned about how my skill set would be measured. My corporate supply chain representative became a teacher, mentor and sometimes cheerleader for me. By his guidance and support, I was able to grow professionally and survive in a challenging environment. From that point forward, I have tried to have that same approach – learning from many and supporting and mentoring others.
