Why you are seeking this position?

I believe in the work that AHRMM accomplishes through its committees.  It serves the Supply Chain world in keeping members up to date on new initiatives.  The website is a resource knowledge database providing educational opportunities.  I believe I can offer AHRMM and its members a fresh perspective on supply chain, working with hospitals on strategic based initiatives and help broadcast who AHRMM is and what AHRMM does.

How can you advance AHRMM's mission to advance healthcare through supply chain excellence?

I believe in researching best industry practices and putting into place with what makes sense for the size medical center or system that one is running.  We are all CEO’s of our world and our leaders expect this from us.  By keeping in step with AHRMM, we are given a world class model of what supply chain should deliver to our customers.  It is through this model that supply chain leaders communicate and deliver quality service to our customers and ultimately the patient.

Identify 3 - 5 strategic priorities you think AHRMM should undertake and your reasons for identifying them as important.

1.  Membership is key.  Our economic times are tough today and supply chain leaders need resources to develop goals and strategic initiatives to remain competitive in their environment.

2.  Define what excellence means to a supply chain leader.  This will grow and develop ARHMM members into tomorrow’s leaders.

3.  Utilize the membership database in a meaningful way to develop annual goals with anticipated deliverables and outcomes.

Identify your personal and professional qualities that will be valuable in the position for which you are being considered.

I am a positive thinker and believe in the power of the team.  Whether it is being an AHRMM member or an AHRMM board member, it is this team-work mentality that makes the group successful.  I have a lot of experience in healthcare and working with all types of people.  I find this not only challenging but interesting.  And, I always learn something new as well as try to give back.

How will you use these qualities to benefit AHRMM, the Board, and the members?

I can provide positive feedback or input on proposed projects.  I can challenge the status quo on a project if it becomes stuck.  Most importantly of all is to ensure the success of AHRMM as a leader in supply chain excellence through its mission, vision and values.

What do you expect to be your single, greatest contribution to AHRMM as a Board member?

I expect to be humbled by others who are smarter and wiser than me.

Describe one transformational experience in your professional life you have been involved with and what you have learned from this experience.

I was asked to temporarily leave my position as Director of Materials Management and work in the role of Director of Transition Planning.  I administrative the plan of moving a hospital we were closing to a brand new facility.  I worked with doctors, nurses, senior leaders, contractors, architects, equipment planners for two years.  I knew it was a lot of work when I would receive 600 emails a day and I requested a Blackberry to keep up with them all.  I said if I could do this for someone else, I could go back and get my MBA.  I am halfway through.  I have stamina and I feed off others excitement.  I believe I have a lot to learn and a lot to give.  I hope you will seriously consider me for a board member
