The Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) is the premier national credential based on a sound assessment that provides you distinction in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Eligibility requirements include a blend of education and experience in addition to taking and passing the 110-question CMRP Examination. This exam tests your knowledge on the tasks that are performed regularly in practice and are considered important to competent practice in the healthcare supply chain field. This session, taught by certified peers, is a four-hour refresher course to become better prepared to take the examination. It covers the five core content areas of the exam – Purchasing/Product Value Analysis, Inventory Distribution Management, Information Systems, Finance, and Strategic Planning/Leadership – and provides helpful test-taking tips. Previous attendees have found it to be an invaluable review tool in helping them succeed on the examination.

Materials Management 201 [$]

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
This four-hour session is part of a series of seminars directed at fine tuning the education of managers or directors who are seeking to hone their professional knowledge. The way to become a seasoned professional is to sit with others and gain the benefit from their experiences under the direction of an AHRMM educator. The seminar concentrates on the five areas of materials management: purchasing, distribution, technology solutions, finance, strategic planning, and but is not limited to these areas. You will also learn how to understand and prepare Return on Investment (ROI) worksheets, Excel spreadsheets, and realization schedules, as well as how to further develop leadership and management skills. This seminar series is also focused on helping the attendee prepare for the CMRP exam.

Roundtable Discussion

Adopting GS1 Data Standards:  Choices, Challenges
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Decades after many industries have been transformed by adoption of information technology built upon common data standards for identifying products and locations in supply chains, healthcare continues to suffer from fragmented, duplicative, confused, and ad hoc systems for conducting supply chain processes. Over the past few years, a consensus has emerged among healthcare supply chain leaders that these deficiencies can and must be addressed by widespread adoption of GS1 global data standards for product and location identifiers, in order to effectively synchronize material and information flow within healthcare providers and among trading partners.

To become part of this GS1 revolution and leverage the opportunities it presents, healthcare provider organizations must implement changes in their supply chain information systems and processes, but many are uncertain about the choices available to them and the magnitude of the challenges they may confront. After a brief introduction to the GS1 data standards and the case for their adoption, this workshop will present guidelines and roadmaps for provider implementation, emphasizing design choices and technology barriers that must be addressed. The discussion will draw upon implementation experience and lessons learned from the CIHLs ongoing project to estimate benefits, pilot operations and foster widespread adoption of GS1 standards by healthcare providers.
