Materials Management 201 [$]
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
This four-hour session is part of a series of seminars directed at fine tuning the education of managers or directors who are seeking to hone their professional knowledge. The way to become a seasoned professional is to sit with others and gain the benefit from their experiences under the direction of an AHRMM educator. The seminar concentrates on the five areas of materials management: purchasing, distribution, technology solutions, finance, and strategic planning. You will also learn how to understand and prepare Return on Investment (ROI) worksheets, Excel spreadsheets, and realization schedules, as well as how to further develop leadership and management skills. This seminar also focuses on helping the attendee prepare for the CMRP exam.

Roundtable Discussion
Transitioning from Medical Logistics to Supply Chain Management and Beyond
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Many of our AHRMM colleagues are members of the uniformed services. However, they will change uniforms someday. We often hear that supply chain is supply chain is…. In most cases that is true. Every organization prides itself on its unique qualities that distinguish it from others.
Our military services are no different. They are unique in many ways, serving in parts of the world that others will never see, facing challenges that many will never encounter. In the end, we all seek to serve our respective organizations proudly and with distinction. In turn, we want others to join our respective organizations that have the same or similar standards in serving.
What makes them our uniformed members unique or different? Can they fit into my organization and achieve the same success? These need to be answered and who better than AHRMM to provide a venue to get those answers?
This roundtable has two primary purposes: (1) to help better equip those preparing to transition into the private sector and, (2) to present an opportunity for everyone to learn more about their uniformed colleagues and how they fit into the private sector. The military has proven to be superb employees based on their discipline, work ethic, and dedication to getting the job done.
Discussions will include suggestions & recommendations to make the service members transition easier. It will also include input from those who have completed the transition. We will discuss the successes (and failures) of transitions as well as providing insight into what organizations are looking for in various settings from single hospitals to IDN to corporate structures.
