Managing Transitions and Change
Overview: Change is inevitable. Our organizations are constantly asked to reduce costs, increase efficiency, provide better service, and reduce errors while increasing productivity. To keep up with these demands, we have to be vigilant and willing to adapt and shift to the changes. This is a constant process in all aspects of our lives, yet 70% of change efforts fail or are derailed. The consequences are often significant.
As healthcare leaders, we must rise to this challenge and find ways to help our teams, staff, and customers adjust to these changes and move forward. Too often we see great ideas fall flat of their expectations because of the inability to change and transition effectively. Every leader needs to understand that change is inevitable and personal. It is every leader’s role to successfully lead others through changes in the organization.
This session will explain the change management process; discuss how knowledge of the process can improve your effectiveness as a change agent; compare and contrast change and transition; and demonstrate useful ways to deal with resistance.
