Value Analysis: Why it Usually Doesn't Work...and How You Can Make Sure It Does

Speaker:  Tim Glennon RN, MSN, CMRP, Vice President, Clinical & Educational Services, GNYHA Services, Inc.

Overview:  It's a well known fact:  most so-called Value Analysis (VA) programs don't work. That's because most VA programs aren't doing Value Analysis at all. In this informative and stimulating webinar session, Tim Glennon RN explores what Value Analysis truly is -- and what it isn't. Starting with a Value Analysis Self Assessment, Tim explores the history of Value Analysis, tracing it back to its origins at General Electric during WWII. He then reviews the 5 reasons why most programs fail -- and why VA committee members typically yawn, roll their eyes, and play with their blackberries while enduring yet another ineffective meeting. It doesn't have to be this way: Value Analysis for real should be a vital, integral part of any organization's operations, particularly when dealing with clinical and physician preference items. Focusing on an evidence-based, multidisciplinary process driven from the top, Tim reviews the core components of a successful program, and how you can re-create and revitalize your Value Analysis program to reach its full potential.
