Offering comprehensive overviews of basic Value Analysis (VA) techniques, tools, and helpful “tricks-of-the-trade”, this web seminare series is now available for purchase on CD-ROM. Whether you’re the CEO of your organization or new to the healthcare supply chain industry, every session in this four-part series will give you valuable insight to help strengthen your organization’s Value Analysis program.
Session I: Cross Functional Value Analysis
For a VA program to be effective it must have an established interdisciplinary decision-making process to perform product and service selection in the context of cost-effective, safe, and quality patient care. Gain insight and ideas for establishing an organized and consistent decision-making platform for your organization. Topics include: strategies used in the clinical quality & value analysis process, current VA trends, VA conceptual model: goal identification to implementation, key components of supply cost reduction (organization, executive participation, metrics), project types and complexity, targeted communications to establish team reporting channels, and strategies for success.
Session II: Engaging the Executive Team in Value Analysis
A VA program without executive support and participation is doomed to fail before it gets off the ground. Learn key elements and techniques necessary to educate and engage members of your executive team in your VA program. Topics include: educating and engaging the executive team; selecting, organizing and training team members; selecting products and documenting the process; keeping teams focused on the objective of saving hospital dollars; building consensus within a cross-functional team; and not losing sight of the basics of VA.
Session III: Maximizing Clinician & Executive Participation
in Value Analysis
One of the biggest challenges healthcare organizations face today is maximizing participation, buy-in, and ownership of their supply VA program. Learn how to get over, under, or around this hurdle and other obstacles so your organization can sprint to VA success! Topics include: engaging the executive team metrics; leveraging project management techniques to improve oversight; aligning incentives, gain share, and outside interests; using a balances scorecard; maximizing clinical engagement; using physician focus groups; making criteria-based decisions; and assessing technology.
Session IV: Maximizing Clinician & Executive Participation
in Value Analysis
Put theories into actions. This sessions pulls together all of the critical elements and highly effective techniques revealed in previous sessions (I to III), and introduces new “best practices” currently used leading VA practitioners. Topics include: implementing critical success factors, learning lessons leading practitioners, maximizing and maintaining benefits from truly effective VA programs, keeping team enthusiasm going after the initial goals are met, and generating savings ideas from all employees.
