Hospital Acquired Infections: Making Hay While the Sun Shines
Speaker: Timothy Glennon, RN, CMRP, Vice President, GNYHA Services, Inc.
Overview: Healthcare associated or Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) continue to be a serious problem in the US, both in terms of patient morbidity and mortality and cost: according to the CDD, 1.7 million HAIs per year, leading to 98,000 unnecessary deaths, and $5 Billion in treatment cost.
Healthcare device manufacturers are “making hay while the sun shines” by actively promoting products designed to prevent or reduce infection – often at significantly greater cost.
In this webinar, the presenter explores the problem of HAIs, and how they relate to the total value equation in the healthcare supply chain. What kinds of products are being recommended by manufacturers to address the issue? At what cost? Are antibiotic or silver coated products recommended? If so, with all patients? Are there simple guidelines to follow that can help reduce HAIs without significantly adding cost?
Cost: $99 per CD-Rom - AHRMM Members; $139 per CD-Rom - AHRMM Non-members
