The Evolution of Supply Chain Analytics to Performance Consulting

Overview: Industry reform has expanded supply chain cost pressures to work with their clinician and administrative partners to help manage the second largest spend on the hospital financial statement - supplies. Mayo Clinic has reacted to these changes by creating a Supply Chain Performance Consulting Team. Initially, this team consisted of skilled Finance individuals whose charge was to work with high-spend Clinical departments to develop key performance indicators (KPIs). This team has evolved into diverse backgrounds of Finance and Supply Chain expertise providing consultative support to high spend departments at Mayo Clinic. The team has matured from the reporting of KPIs into a consulting unit that provides Physician and Administrative leadership supply chain opportunity analysis to drive down supply cost through contract compliance, standardization, utilization, and creation of new product technology committees. This presentation will discuss how the team was developed, their evolution, examples of dashboards, opportunity analyses, and future goals.
