We wish to thank all of those who helped make 2011 a successful year for our Society. We were able to present throughout the year, well attended educational presentations, a successful golf outing, and a membership dinner. Also, 3 of our members are to be congratulated for attaining CMRP status.

In addition, many of our Board members and members were able to attend the AHRMM convention in Boston and were rewarded with many learning opportunities.

We look forward to the opportunities that 2012 will bring to make this year as successful as 2011.

On Wednesday February 12 we will hold our first 2012 educational seminar. CEU’s will be made available to attendees.  For the location and a full description of this seminar visit our newly updated and expanded website www.hmms-nj.org

Are YOU ready for the next big move?  Are you prepared for a career move, one of your choosing or not?  You are if you attended the January meeting of SEPAC.  Tom MacVaugh walked us through the pitfalls and gave us great tips on how to navigate a new job quest.  Tom has over 35 years of experience as both a hiring manager as well as a search candidate, and he has created this program to help potential candidates face the realities of the search processes.  We talked about what works and what doesn’t in every phase of the process, from creating a resume that gets read to making a great impression at the interview.  The executive job market is very different in 2012 for a variety of reasons and Tom went over them all and gave us key characteristics that both recruiters and hiring entities look for.  Everyone who attended came away with a great tool set to help differentiate them from other on their career path.

We also heard that it’s time to nominate for open positions on the Board of Directors.  There are 2 Vendor Directors, 2 Healthcare Directors, Secretary and Vice President positions open.  Please visit the website to see how to nominate someone for a rewarding position on the board.  There was also a big announcement about a fundraiser/networking event to be held sometime in April.  Stay tunes for more details.  Our next meeting will be February 21 at the Philadelphia airport Hilton.  We hope to see you there!

Our chapter wrapped up 2011 with an educational session on November 8 on Automated Storage Solution.  On December 6 we had a Chapter Christmas social.

We are looking forward to 2012 being the year of growth with more members, networking and great educational sessions.  Several of our board positions have changed as part of the regular rotation.  We want to thank our outgoing president Chris Mele for his leadership and contribution in 2011.  Our new chapter president is Ted Pappas, who is the Logistics Manager with Mayo Clinic.

We are still working out all the details for 2012 educational plans.  Our next chapter meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 28.  The topic will be Supply Expense Management.  The speaker will be Mark St George, Director of Supply Chain Management of Mayo Clinic.  Please check our website often to see the updates for the rest of the year’s activities as the plans are finalized.

In 2012, we plan to send out more frequent news updates to all our members to keep you informed.  We also hope to include some on-line educational information to you in the new updates so the members can maintain the educational requirements required for CMRP.

Our website (www.neflahrmm.org) lists e-mail contact information, Chapter Board members, Chapter mission statement, calendar of events, resources and an application form to join the NE FL AHRMM Chapter.  Check us out and we would love to hear from you.

Hard to believe that January is almost over!  We were having a very nice extended Fall here in Chicago and I hope you took advantage of the mild weather.  But, now it is time to start thinking about Spring and our annual Education and Vendor Fair.

This year’s event will be held on Thursday, April 5 at the Eaglewood Resort in Itasca.  Please go to our website for a copy of the invite www.ahrmmchicagometro.com.

We are excited to try a new format this year to allow you to come to a ½ day or a full day event with separate speakers in both the AM & the PM sessions.  We will still have more than 35 vendors there sharing new & innovative products.  Please remember to support the vendors and thank them for all they do.  Without our vendors, we would not be able to provide our programs to our Materials Mangers and healthcare membership at no or minimal cost.
