2001 AHRMM Chapter-of-the-Year Award Given to Michigan Chapter

CHICAGO, July 3, 2001 - The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) today announced the 2001 Chapter-of-the-Year Award recipient. The first place award goes to Michigan Healthcare Resource & Materials Management, Inc. (MHRMM).

MHRMM was acknowledged for their outstanding newsletter and member involvement at chapter meetings. The chapter has done an excellent job providing professional development to its members and consistently sponsors educational programs on various healthcare topics. They also sponsor a one-day Annual Seminar and Exhibition, free to any healthcare professional. Their involvement does not stop at the local level as they had more than 12 members attend the 2000 national meeting. MHRMM maintains a Web site as well-www.mhrmm.org. The Michigan chapter also engages in various philanthropic activities such as annual participation in the Marine Corps' "Toys for Tots" campaign. They support scholarships programs at a local college, which provides funding for students pursuing education in materials management logistics. MHRMM supports Project Perfect World Foundation through donations of medical equipment and financial contributions.

Chapter-of-the-Year is AHRMM's highest level of chapter recognition and is presented to the chapter with the highest rating based on specific criteria. The criteria for the ten-year-old program are organized around four topic areas: education, chapter projects, membership, and advancement/recognition. A narrative section was added this year to allow the applicants to expand on points in the four topic areas. The AHRMM chapters cited for honorable mentions were the Kansas Association for Hospital Purchasing & Materials Management and the Wisconsin Healthcare Material Management Association. All award recipients will be honored at the Recognition Breakfast on July 31, 2001 during AHRMM's Annual Conference and Exhibition in Denver.
