AHRMM Announces 2002 Election Results

CHICAGO, October 12, 2001 - Members of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) have elected a new slate of officers. Through a primarily online voting process, the 2002 president-elect, board representative seats for regions four and five and an at large regional representative were selected. The newly elected officers begin their terms on January 1, 2002.

Marc Westerman, Administrative Director of Materials Management, Orlando Regional Healthcare System in Orlando, Florida was elected as AHRMM’s 2002 President-Elect. Westerman has been the Region 4 Board Representative for the past two years. In 2001, he Chaired the Technology Committee and the Internet Education Summit Task Force and served on the Annual Charity Golf Tournament Task Force.

Regional Board Members are elected by AHRMM members in their respective regions. The newly elected officer’s role is to represent the members in the region by conveying the constituency’s issues to AHRMM's leadership.

Region 4 (Alabama, Caribbean Islands, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee) will be represented by John Mateka, Southeast Region Vice President of Materials Management, Holy Cross/Mercy System CHE, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Region 5 (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin) will be represented by Mary Ann Michalski, System Director of Logistics and Distribution, Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, Michigan.

An At-Large seat, representing the entire AHRMM membership, will be filled by Robert Perry, Corporate Director of Materials Management, Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Columbus, Georgia.

In addition, the election for the Region 1 Representative resulted in a tie vote. Based on AHRMM’s bylaws, a run-off will be conducted with Region 1 members and results announced October 24th. Region one encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, and all foreign countries not represented by other regions.
