AHRMM to be Home for Nations Healthcare
Resource & Materials Management Professionals
CHICAGO - In the wake of the Health Care Resource Management Society's (HCRMS) decision to end operations effective April 1, 2001, the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) announced it will honor the Society's membership in an effort to create one voice in the healthcare resource and materials management field. AHRMM is a Personal Membership Group of the American Hospital Association (AHA).
AHRMM will give former HCRMS members access to all membership privileges through their current terms of membership. Members can join local AHRMM chapters and participate in regional and national activities immediately. AHRMM's current membership will benefit from the additional members who will add their experience and expertise to enrich the AHRMM community.
AHRMM also will recognize and support all HCRMS certification programs for up to five years while an outside certification panel reviews the programs for content. AHRMM's goal is to develop and maintain professional certification programs that will become the benchmark for the field. Two seats on the AHRMM board will be made available to former HCRMS members for a three-year period.
Through its affiliation with AHA, AHRMM has a strong voice in legislative and regulatory issues in the field. The Association's relationship with the AHA also provides an avenue to showcase the field's accomplishments to leaders from hospitals and health systems nationwide. As an organization representing all resource and materials management professionals, AHRMM will have a stronger voice on advocacy issues facing the profession.
"We are confident AHRMM will be an organization that truly will speak with one voice for the good of all members, the profession, and healthcare in general," said Renee Landry, AHRMM Immediate Past President. We look forward to welcoming HCRMS members into the AHRMM family.
AHRMM's mission is to lead, educate, and promote the resource and materials management profession by supporting our membership in the delivery of cost-effective, quality healthcare. By speaking with one voice, AHRMM will be able to set the standard with networking opportunities, education, certification, and advocacy and will continue to provide support and leadership to all members. The Association's goal is to promote the profession and its members throughout the healthcare field.
