AHRMM Announces 2003 Election Results
CHICAGO, October 10, 2003 — Members of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) recently elected a new president-elect, a military region representative, and board representative seats for regions three, six and nine. The new officers will begin their terms on January 1, 2003.
The president-elect serves on the AHRMM executive committee and is responsible for the strategic plan and budget, and in the absence of the president, assumes the duties of the president. Regional board members are elected by their respective constituencies. The newly elected officer’s role is to represent the members in the region by conveying the constituency’s issues to AHRMM's leadership.
John Mateka was elected AHRMM’s 2003 president-elect. Mateka has served as a regional member of the board and won AHRMM’s 2002 Innovative Program Award. He has more than 20 years of healthcare material/support service experience and has represented AHRMM on the AHA/EPA Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) and chaired the Charity Golf Committee in 2001. Mateka is currently the southeast region vice president of materials management for Holy Cross/Mercy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and an AHRMM fellow.

Region 3 (Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware) will be represented by Stuart Harper, the regional director of Quorum Health Resources in Prince George, Virginia.

Region 6 (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota) will be represented by Dick Kuhn, director of materials management at Olathe Medical Center, Inc. in Olathe, Kansas.

Region 9 (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington) will be represented by Jean Sargent, the director of SPD and receiving at UCLA Healthcare in Los Angeles, California.

The Military Region will be represented by Colonel Marc M. Sager, the chief of medical logistics division in the Office of the Surgeon General at Ft. Detrick, Maryland.
