AHRMM Donates Over $42,000 to Project Perfect
World Foundation
CHICAGO, December 4, 2003 – The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) announced a donation of over $42,000 to Project Perfect World Foundation (PPWF), an organization that provides children in third world countries with medical care. This year’s donation represents the proceeds of the Seventh Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held August 17, 2003 at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California in conjunction with AHRMM’s 2003 Annual Conference and Exhibition. This year’s donation is the largest made by AHRMM to Project Perfect World’s efforts. Most of the funds were raised from over 20 sponsoring companies, including McKesson who was the title sponsor of the tournament. AHRMM thanks the many individuals who contributed time and energy to the event especially the Golf Task Force.
"AHRMM is proud to support Project Perfect World and the important work it does,” said Deborah Sprindzunas, AHRMM executive director. "While we struggle with the issues surrounding our own healthcare systems, the people helped by PPWF would have no healthcare at all, if not for contributions such as ours."
The Project Perfect World Foundation provides humanitarian medical care for hundreds of children in third world countries. Since its beginning in 1995, Project Perfect World has sent medical teams to impoverished areas annually to perform maxillofacial and dental surgery on children. This year two orthopedic teams were sent to Guayaquil, Ecuadorto to perform surgeries for children who would otherwise not receive the care.
The Eighth Annual Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for August 1, 2004 at the Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville, Tennessee. To learn more about this fundraising event, please visit ahrmm@aha.org.
