AHRMM Makes Record-breaking Donation to Project Perfect World Foundation
Chicago, September 28, 2004: The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) has donated over $55,000 to Project Perfect World Foundation (PPWF), a program which provides humanitarian medical care for hundreds of children living in third world countries. The donation included proceeds from AHRMM’s Eighth Annual Charity Golf Tournament, held in conjunction with AHRMM’s 42nd Annual Conference & Exhibition in Nashville, Tenn. This year’s donation represents a 13 percent increase over last year and is AHRMM’s largest contribution to this organization to date.
"AHRMM has been a strong supporter of Project Perfect World for several years, and we are honored to be part of such a worthy cause,” said AHRMM Executive Director Deborah Sprindzunas. "As a recent member of a Project Perfect World team, I saw first-hand the magnificent work the surgical teams perform to improve the lives of underprivileged children." Sprindzunas went on to thank the many companies and individuals who contributed time and energy to the event, especially the Charity Golf Task Force.
Since its inception in 1995, Project Perfect World has sent medical teams to impoverished areas annually to perform maxillofacial, dental and orthopedic surgeries on children. This year, the orthopedic team that was sent to Guayaquil, Ecuador, to perform surgeries on children included Sprindzunas and AHRMM board member Robert Perry.
More than 20 sponsoring companies, including tournament title sponsor McKesson, participated in the golfing event to help raise funds for PPW. According to Richard Pedrick, PPWF president, “The great success of this year’s tournament allows us to plan two additional team trips next year.”
The Ninth Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2005 in Anaheim, Calif. during AHRMM’s 43rd Annual Conference & Exhibition.
