CHICAGO, March 28, 2008 — The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) has announced that it will host four one-day AHRMM Regional Seminars in 2008 that will feature education and face-to-face networking for healthcare supply chain professionals across the U.S.

“AHRMM realizes that scheduling conflicts and budget constraints are making it harder and harder for professionals to travel and attend training programs and networking events,” said AHRMM President Mary Ann Michalski. “AHRMM’s main objective as an association is to advance the materials management profession through education, resources, and networking. Our hope is that by bringing these affordable seminars to different regions across the country, more professionals will have the opportunity to gain the information they need to take their organizations to the next level.”

The AHRMM Regional Seminars’ schedule and locations are:

Each AHRMM Regional Seminar will feature two educations sessions: “Lean Six Sigma for the Healthcare Supply Chain” presented by Ron Crabtree, president of MetaOps, Inc., and “RFID: Managing the Moveable Equipment Management Process” presented by Al Cook, director of healthcare product development at IBSS. The Lean Six Sigma (LSS) presentation will allow materials managers to develop basic skills using the key tools in LSS to positively impact their healthcare supply chain operations. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology presentation will demonstrate how collected data and control charting, which helps chart and therefore maintain quality management of materials, can benefit hospitals and other health care providers.

Half-day and full-day registrations are available, allowing attendees to customize a program that meets their schedule and budget. Seminars include a networking lunch and continuing education credits for all attendees. Complete registration information is available at www.ahrmm.org.
