Academic Collaboration to Advance Healthcare Supply Chain Theory & Practice

Founded in 2009, the Academic Council for Healthcare Supply Chain Research brings together academicians involved in healthcare supply chain research and education. The Council meets annually to share research projects and outcomes, syllabi, ideas, and to discuss the issues they face in the course of conducting supply chain research and teaching.

Mission Statement

To identify research issues and opportunities in healthcare supply chain management, to adopt the theoretical and methodological perspectives most likely to provide value, to help determine dissemination strategies for bridging the gap between research and practice, and to provide a knowledge base for policymakers to enact policies to improve healthcare system performance.

Goals

  • Advance healthcare supply chain theory and practice
  • Identify best practices, theories, concepts, and models developed in the non-healthcare setting and transpose them into healthcare
  • Provide a forum for exposure and dissemination of research
  • Develop connections with supply chain leaders in healthcare
  • Help determine effective translation and dissemination strategies for healthcare supply chain research
  • Influence the development of robust data sources for healthcare supply chain research
  • Work collectively to identify funding sources
  • Share knowledge (white papers, articles, publications)
  • Exchange teaching materials (syllabi, textbooks used, etc) for courses in healthcare supply chain management
