Future of the Healthcare Value Chain

Hussain A. Mooraj, Vice President, Head of Research, AMR Research, Inc.

The cost of healthcare is skyrocketing: fragmentation, network complexity, and lack of visibility in the healthcare value chain only add to these challenges. As healthcare becomes more decentralized and moves to a ‘boundaryless’ model, Hussain will discuss how we can apply the principles of a demand-driven network to the shifting healthcare value chain model, including the building blocks required to initiate or drive such a transformation. He will present best practices from other industries on how to make the supply chain go beyond just supplying product to one that delivers solutions in this evolving healthcare environment. He will also discuss how companies in the value chain can jointly meet the complex needs by being more nimble and responsive.

The Effects of Healthcare Reform on Supply Chain Management

Nick Sears, Chief Medical Officer, MedAssets

Reform of the U.S. healthcare system has been a polarizing, agonizing and protracted debate in this country for many years. With Senate and House bills about to be passed, it looks as though some reform will finally occur. It is incumbent for all healthcare providers to understand the implications of the final bill. We will focus on the reform and the effect it has on providers, with particular attention to the supply chain executives. The participant will learn the global strategy expressed by CMS and the planned methodology for reimbursement. In addition, this presentation will focus on the concessions made by the industry and the potential issues and regulations that hospital supply chain executives will have to understand.
