Biographies

Steve Tarkington, AVP, Supply Cost Management - HealthTrust Purchasing Group – In addition to leading Strategic Operations Solutions, HealthTrust’s consulting team, Steve has been with HCA Supply Chain in his current position since January 2004.  He has been with HCA since June 1980 andhas served in various roles such as Staff Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Manager, Administrative Director, Chief Nursing office and Chief Operating Officer. Steve earned his diploma in Nursing at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, his BBA and MBA at Averett University in Danville, Virginia, his MSN at University of Phoenix, Arizona and is currently pursuing his PhD, Nursing at University of Phoenix. Steve is also an adjunct faculty member at Aquinas College School of Nursing

Kathy Demaray, Director of Surgical utilization and Operations Improvement - HealthTrust purchasing Group - In Kathy’s current position she is responsible for the identification, analysis, and introduction of supply cost management solutions related to surgery product. Her past work experience includes working for HCA as a Director of Surgical Service for ten years, during which time she opened Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida.  She also spent three years as Director or Surgical Services at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 1992, Kathy joined SRII/Surgical Express as a Nurse Consultant.  She moved into the Sales Representative position covering territories throughout Florida, until re-locating to Nashville in 2001, to develop business in the Tennessee market, where she worked until joining Supply chain in 2004. Kathy received her nursing diploma from St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut and her Bachelor’s Degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida.
