Conference Tracks

AHRMM16 tracks are developed to deliver content that is of most interest to the attendees. Learning Lab sessions will be presented at Executive, Director, and Manager level.

Preference has been given to sessions that include Cost, Quality, and Outcomes (CQO) aspects, tie to the IHI Triple Aim, and offer solution-based presentations on topics pertinent to one of the following eight tracks:

Clinical Resource Management/Value Analysis
Recognize the clinical evidence, financial implications and supply chain tactics required to improve patient care, quality and safety that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness while mitigating escalating healthcare costs. Learn practical tools to excel in day-to-day cost management and physician preference strategies. This track covers key areas of clinical resource management and value analysis as it relates to the healthcare supply chain.

Logistics

Identify the importance of the efficient flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of consumption to meet customer requirements. This will include inventory control and distribution systems, supply utilization review, customer service planning, evaluation and reduction in waste, collaboration with supplier partners as well as constant information systems improvements that will have a critical impact on the organization’s overall success.

Procure to Pay
Automate the transactional flow of data that is sent to the supplier surrounding the fulfillment of the actual order and payment for the product or service. Identify the advantages of this environment to drive efficiencies for cost effective acquisition and payment of supplies, equipment and purchased services essential for the operation of healthcare facilities. Good technology is often a key enabler of this. This track covers methods and core principles of requisition, contract management, accounts payable processes, and more.

Strategic Planning
Healthcare transformation to a value-based care model has made foundational changes and challenges for the supply chain. Making this transformation requires proactive and innovative overarching strategy. This track delivers strategic concepts utilizing cost, quality, and outcomes to provide clear solutions to move supply chain to the forefront in healthcare renovation.

Strategic Sourcing
Optimize a key aspect of supply chain management. It is the collaborative and structured process of critically analyzing an organizations spend and using this information to make business decisions about acquiring commodities, products, equipment, software and services more effectively and efficiently. This process helps the organization optimize performance, minimize price, and evaluate total life cycle management costs. It involves elements such as examination of purchasing budgets, the landscape of the supply market, negotiation with suppliers, and periodic assessments of supply transactions. This process also evaluates the best use of when to use GPOs in the contracting/sourcing decision making. This process can also involve the value analysis function integrated into key purchasing decisions.

Technology Informatics
Stay up to speed with the latest advancements in healthcare technology. In today’s market, information technology (IT) is critical to every organization’s success. IT has made purchasing, replenishment automation, data analytics leading to improved efficiencies and e-Commerce much easier and more important than ever before. This track focuses on how the field can and will benefit from the IT evolution.

Topics in the Spotlight
Explore critical and complex supply chain management areas, along with current trends, to be better prepared to lead important strategic decision making. Topics will be selected based on industry issues relevant at the time of the conference.
