1. Please share your history of involvement with AHRMM committees/task forces/activities:

I have been member of AHRMM since 2006, and attended my first conference as a guest while working at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in Los Angeles, back in June 2001.

2. Tell us more about your specific job responsibilities in your company/hospital/organization:

As a current Executive Director of Supply Chain Management, I oversee the following:

  • Responsible for the Procurement and Supply Chain functions for the Southern California region network of 27+ urgent care and medical-clinic sites; utilizing the Premier Connect Group Purchasing Organization system.
  • Develop plans for the enterprise-wide strategic procurement and contract administration for all goods and services, including Pharmacy, food service and facilities management.
  • Coordinate the necessary controls for efficient warehouse inventory management, internal courier services, medical records and document storage, and supply-chain distribution operations for the entire network.
  • Saved 4.5 million dollars in from 2012 to date from strategic standardized contract administration and inventory control of regional sites.
  • Operate three distribution warehouses serving the Southern California region.

3. How many years have you been in your current role; how many years in supply chain?

I have been in my current position since 2012. I have worked in hospital and healthcare Supply Chain Management since 1990 with medium and large sized organizations managing up to 220 FTE direct reports, including managers and directors.

4. What aspect of your job do you like best?

I like the being a part of a larger system where I am able to help people get what they want, when they need it, and at the best price. 

5. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Having to slow down in making too many changes, too fast; I have wised up to this method with experience.

6. Who is your mentor/key influencer, and why?

A key mentor of mine is John F. Kennedy. Even though he lived long before I was born, I find his leadership style and quotes inspiring, both personally and professionally. I particularly like the American University speech in June 1963.

7. What AHRMM board/committee/task forces/activity/experience stands out/is most memorable for you?

I am interested in the future delivery of healthcare, both from a team-based approach and utilizing technology to supplement the future loss of labor into the 2020s.

8. Why did you join AHRMM/what keeps you coming back?

To network, stay up to date on current trends, and consistently learn from the best and brightest in my field.

10. What are key AHRMM resources you use to leverage your supply chain processes?

11. What is the best part of being involved in your professional association?

Networking and learning. You never stop learning and growing.

12. What is something most of your peers don’t know about you?

I used to be a character actor for the music video industry here in Los Angeles.

13. In my free time I like to:

Snowboard, spend time with my girlfriend and my two Pugs.
