Describe why you are a good candidate for this leadership role.

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”. These were the words of John Quincy Adams and I believe they are as relevant today as they were then. Over the years I’ve been lucky to have been the Director over many clinical departments. With each one my goal was always to find the leaders, both formal in informal, within the department and help them develop the skills they needed to rise up, to be ready when the opportunity presents itself. You see leadership has never been about my success but the success of those around me, the success of the organization, the success of achieving our goals as a team and seeing the results in improved outcomes or quality measures or improved benchmarked spend. It is a drive and passion for excellence to make a difference.

Describe where you see healthcare evolving, and what you see supply chain’s role being in those future models.

We are currently in the mist of a revolution in healthcare. The pandemic has helped expedite it. We are moving care to new locations, new modalities, new methods of doing “old things”. Telehealth has seen a boom over the last year and a half, but that’s just the beginning. As hospitals take on more risk (financial) we will see other modalities become the new normal, such as, Hospital at Home, caring for patients in their home instead of in the hospital. This will require new ways of thinking and new supply chain models for providing the clinicians and patients what they need, where they need it and when they need it.

How will your leadership and vision strengthen AHRMM? Share your thoughts, making sure to touch upon the following: AHRMM’s mission, strategy map, the future of health care supply chain, and the CQO movement.

As the saying goes leadership is the ability to translate vision into reality, I would hope that through my experience, education, and enthusiasm I would be able to contribute to the many important initiatives that AHRMM is not only involved in, but is leading the way. In each of the big initiatives, CQO, The Future of Health Care, and Strategy Mapping I am positive that my real-life experience from both the clinical and supply side would prove beneficial. That my experience as an OR Director, ER Director, and Director of Cardio-Pulmonary services would allow insight into the impact any of these initiatives would have on the frontline clinical staff as well as the impact at the hospital supply chain level.
