In response to ongoing supply chain vulnerabilities and the need for greater sourcing resilience, AHRMM is developing a new resource to support health care organizations in identifying domestic manufacturers of critical medical products. Unlike the existing vetted vendor list, this new resource will not include formal vetting; instead, it will serve as an informational directory to promote visibility and access to U.S.-based manufacturers.
The goal is to help hospitals and health systems explore domestic sourcing alternatives that may mitigate tariff-related cost pressures, reduce dependency on foreign suppliers, and strengthen supply chain continuity. This initiative aligns with broader efforts across the field to elevate domestic production capacity and diversify sourcing strategies.

M21 LLC, a Philadelphia, PA-based startup, is the inventor and manufacturer of an innovative and recently patented dual-chambered protective face mask (U.S. Patent No.12,082,633, issued September 10, 2024), with other international patents granted and pending.
M21® is a two-chamber mask that isolates the nose and mouth via an integrated internal barrier, which enables the wearer to better control breathing when inhaling clean air through the nose and exhaling CO2 through the mouth.
Recent studies have shown that inhaling one’s own exhaled air within a mask can significantly increase CO2 intake and reduce O2 concentrations, potentially resulting in a number of adverse side effects (headaches, fatigue, hypoxia, hypercapnia, etc.) as well as a new phenomenon called “Mask-Induced Exhaustion Syndrome”. M21® is designed to significantly reduce the inhalation of recirculated air inside the mask and internal testing has demonstrated that M21® reduces overall CO2 intake by more than 90% versus traditional masks. Its testing also shows that M21® adheres to NIOSH and OSHA safe breathing standards better than traditional masks.

SafeSource Direct is a joint venture between Ochsner Health and Trax Development and is based in Broussard, Louisiana. Established in 2020 in response to the shortage of medical PPE that America endured during the COVID pandemic, SafeSource Direct aggressively answered the call for American-Made PPE by constructing 2 manufacturing facilities. One of which has 435,000 square feet dedicated to the production of medical and industrial grades of nitrile gloves and has produced millions over the last 5 years. The second site, our MMF plant, has 285,000 square feet and is vertically integrated to produce finished goods on site for PPE all the way from raw product. Those PPE products include N95 respirators, masks, gowns, shoe covers, and bouffants. We grew to almost 900 employees in just a few years and have now contracted our staffing to account for decreased demand, but still manufacture and distribute, and have substantial capacity to produce American-made gloves and PPE. We also kicked off the construction of our chemical plant on the same 126-acre site that contains our nitrile glove plant. This plant will be the first large-scale NBR manufacturing plant providing American-made NBR to US-based nitrile glove manufacturers. We have completed a dedicated Research & Development Center in late 2025 to support all of our NBR, glove, and PPE manufacturing operations.
