The National Institutes of Health has launched its Connecting the Community for Maternal Health Challenge: Research Capacity Building in Maternity Care Deserts 2.0. The competition will award more than $3 million to encourage and reward biomedical research in maternal health with an emphasis on maternal morbidity and mortality and maternal health deserts. The challenge consists of four phases: recruitment, training, proposal and research. The recruitment phase closes Sept. 23 and is required to be eligible for later phases. If selected, participants in each phase will be considered for awards ranging from $10,000 to $300,000.
