AHRMM19 CQO Summit White Paper | CQO: The Power of Clinical Integration

Since AHRMM launched the CQO Movement in 2013, health care stakeholders have navigated the waters of payment reform and the shift from volume-based to value-based care. The tenets of CQO, namely the ability to impact cost, quality and outcomes in a holistic way, are well aligned and complimentary to other efforts aimed at increasing the value of health care delivery: the Triple and Quadruple Aims, population health management and the clinically integrated supply chain.

Over the past six years, the CQO Movement has evolved alongside these initiatives, and at each year’s CQO Summit, task force members have presented the CQO Report with case studies from health care supply chain professionals who have successfully leveraged CQO for the benefit of their organizations; whether it is cost savings, quality improvements, better financial outcomes to their organization or a combination of these factors.

This year the AHRMM CQO Task Force decided it was time to reflect on the progress made since the launch of the CQO Movement, celebrate some of its successes and determine how AHRMM members want to drive the Movement forward. They also decided on a change in the Summit format that would promote greater attendee engagement and interaction.

As in past years, the AHRMM19 CQO Summit, which was held on July 28, 2019 in San Diego, featured CQO success stories, with this year’s theme being the clinically integrated supply chain. The health systems and hospitals that were highlighted are assimilating and coordinating clinical and supply chain knowledge, data and leadership throughout the care continuum for the common good of their organizations and the patients they serve.

New for this year, the Summit featured interactive online polling so that attendees could answer polling questions live throughout the event. The goal was to gather their insights on the CQO Movement, how they have embraced it within their organizations, challenges they have faced and what they would like AHRMM to provide in the future to support their changing needs.
