Description:

Health care delivery options are moving forward at record speed, from the hospitals and urgent care to clinics and home health. Telehealth is here to stay, and supply chain must be aware of happenings within their communities and their own health care organizations. Larger health care organizations and those in rural communities with limited access to health resources are already using telehealth services.

This introductory education session discusses telehealth services and their various modes, how supply chain can contribute to telehealth success, and what steps are needed to maintain that success.

How this session relates to the Cost, Quality, and Outcomes (CQO) Movement: Telemedicine is vital to the attainment of CQO principles as it enables health care organizations to reach a broader patient population, provide more timely care and intervention, as well as reduce the overall cost of care by minimizing unnecessary office visits.

Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss the basics of telehealth, marketplace happenings, and how telehealth has expanded delivery options, which position health care systems to be successful in the risk-based environment of the future.
  • Explain the implication of industry changes as they relate to the supply chain and provide key insights into the risk of not adapting to the changing environment, which requires a truly mobile supply chain.
  • Provide insight into the ways that supply chain will evolve and expand its role by taking advantage of the consumer trends that are demanding more virtual care services.

Target Audience:

All health care supply chain professionals interested in telehealth.

Presenters:
  • Brian Wayling, Assistant Vice President, Telehealth Services, Intermountain Healthcare
  • Vance Moore, President, Business Integration, Mercy Virtual
