Description:

When NYU Langone Health underwent new facility construction, supply chain faced industry-wide product shortages and changing regulatory dynamics. The supply chain department adopted High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles and developed a transformational approach in order to support clinical needs and drive quality patient outcomes. As a result of their solution for monitoring inventory in real-time, NYU Langone Health has seen vast operational improvements, has access to in-depth reporting (enabling them to take a more analytical and holistic view of inventory), and is able to forecast risk. Significant savings and increased performance improvement among the workforce has been tracked with the HRO mindset and more time is available to proactively concentrate on par level monitoring, expiration management, inventory turns, and reducing/eliminating stock outs.

In this webinar, supply chain leaders discuss NYU Langone's supply chain transformation. Presenters cover HRO education and concept training, action-oriented committees and project specific development, as well as planning and implementation.

How this session relates to the Cost, Quality, and Outcomes (CQO) Movement: Through the use of technology and a high-reliability model, NYU Langone Health has increased its ability to accurately assess inventory management and overall supply chain patterns. As a result, costs have decreased and products are available to support clinical needs, which improves quality patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe what it means and what it takes to be a high-reliability organization.
  • Apply organizational change management techniques within inventory management.
  • Explain how a technology-based approach should be used to optimize your strategy for inventory management.
